Fresh Start

Can you smell the fresh crisp air of fall?  Even though the weather is still quite warm where I live; I sense the difference. The mornings are cool and crisp, the humidity has ceased and there is a freshness in the atmosphere. There is something special about this time of year. The weather is changing, and the colours of fall are beginning to show.  School has started up, and we are back to routine. Summer vacation mode has come to an end.

The change of seasons can bring such hope and excitement. The sense of newness draws us to re-evaluate goals and plans, to try new things or perhaps break old habits.

As you fall into a new routine; whether it is starting a healthy eating plan, or getting the children off to school; do not forget to make room for God in your schedule. Do not just pencil Him in first thing in the morning for a quick devotion or a quick bedtime prayer at night. Rather, allow Him to consume your every moment. Your silent moments, your frustrated moments, your busy moments. Yes, God cares about every small detailconcerning you. He wants relationship with you. He wants to share your joys and your sorrows. God is not far off where He cannot hear you. He is closer than you may ever realize. This season learn to draw close to God.

We need Him to guide us, to speak to us and to speak through us. We need Him to teach us and to lead us; in our parenting, in our careers, in our relationships. We need Him to convict us and to challenge us.

Are you struggling in sin today? Are you suffering a broken heart from past hurts?  As we begin this new season, ask God to give you a fresh start. Allow the one who created you, to mend you back together. Allow the one person who knows everything about you, to teach you about yourself. Allow God to open your heart up to receive more of Him.

WILL YOU ASK GOD FOR A FRESH START TODAY?

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it! I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

(Isaiah 43:18-19)

The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

(Psalm 19:7)
