Joy in the Word

My husband and I had been going through a season of becoming more conscious of our trust in God. Even if we failed to see an answer, we would motivate each other to keep on trusting. One would grow weary, as the other would encourage. And together we would hold onto the promises of God. One morning, I woke up feeling down. I was uncertain of the cause, but I had a funny feeling that I would especially need to hold onto my faith to get through that day.

Turns out everything went wrong! I had a rough time at work; the children did everything but listen, my new phone fell out of my pocket which shattered the screen, and to top it all off, I lost my wedding ring.

I headed home feeling worst than how I woke up. I felt discouraged, defeated and unnoticed.

Was God not seeing my efforts? Why couldn't I just catch a break?

Despite my inner thoughts, I knew I had to keep on trusting.

Shortly after, my husband came home. He was filled with great excitement, as He began to share a vision with me. He disclosed how God showed Him our future together. He showed Him a visualization of our unborn child; the success of a company we would build together and reminded Him that everything on our hearts would work itself out in due time.

When we're feeling unnoticed and overlooked, at the right moment, God gives us His Word to sustain us.

Immediately, the scripture in Habakkuk 2:3 resonated within me.

"This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed (Habakkuk 2:3 NLT)"

My heart leaped for joy! That Word was so timely. Yes, even though things might look one way, and my feelings are dictating a particular outcome; the Word of God points me towards truth. And His truth tells me, in due time, the vision for my life- God's Word that He spoke over me WILL come to pass.

This confirmation came at the right time and served a specific purpose. It came to bring me joy again!

There is great joy in a timely word!

When God uses His Word to speak over us, it's something we can hold onto! His Word has been tried, tested and it has been proven to be true.

God uses His Word to uproot pain and despair in exchange for joy and gladness!

Grab a hold of God's Word. Allow it to do a complete overhaul. And let it bring joy back into your life!

"A person finds joy in giving an apt reply— and how good is a timely word (Prov 15:23 NIV)."
