Embrace the Season
Several weeks ago, I took a minute to sit by my window to look out and enjoy the birds chirping in the tree. After a few breaths of fresh air I noticed that the tree had started to bud. “Finally! Spring is in sight!” I felt relieved and hopeful. I have been waiting for the nicer weather to appear for quite some time now. When the sun is shining I feel happier, have more energy and more motivation. There is just something about the breaking forth of spring that brings a pep to my step.
Unfortunately, my excitement did not last too long. The nice weather did not stay and many more dreary days were endured.
According to the calendar it was definitely springtime; however this "new season" didn’t bring me the joy I was looking for.
I failed to enjoy the change in season because I couldn't look past my unmet expectations.
Have you ever thought you were entering into a new and exciting season in your life, only for disappointment to come knocking at your door.
You thought you had finally met the "one" only to end up heartbroken and alone.
Or maybe you thought you were about to get a promotion at work and your best friend received it instead.
Perhaps you landed an interview for your dream job, only to be told they found someone more suitable for the position.
Maybe you were ecstatic to become a mom, only to find out this new season would be the most physically and emotionally demanding job you have ever had.
What season of life are you in? Is it what you expected? Are you desperately trying to escape this time in your life? Are you waiting for the next season to bring you excitement or fulfillment?
Don’t miss out on what THIS SEASON holds for your life. See the beauty in the rain, in the fog, even in a storm.
In a couple of months I will give birth to my second child. A new season will be upon me. This new season will be a season of great joy, and yet a season filled with many undesirable moments; lack of sleep, physical pain, changes in marital intimacy and learning to care for a newborn with a toddler in tow.
Newness is exciting and yet it can bring many challenges.
Regardless of the season you are in, focus on the positive aspects of it.
Yes, even the rainy spring weather can be enjoyed.
Find joy in the season you are in and embrace all that it has to offer.
Speak God’s Word Over Your Life:
